This morning was bustling. The people with those cleaning sticks and sweeping sticks were being extra careful today. I didn't know why, but I just paid attention to my bowl of kibble and water. I've always wondered what it would be like to eat something other than kibble, but that's all they feed us here at the cage room. Many dogs come here every day, and sometimes they go home with peoples. I've been here since I was just a baby. I was born here, in fact. I'm only about 6 months old now. Since I guess you don't know what I look like, I'll tell you. I'm a German Shepherd that's mainly black, although I do have a tan chest, belly, and legs. I also have white fur in my ears, though my hearing's fine. Anyways, today all the peoples seemed to be stressed out. I wondered why after a while, so I poked my nose through the bars of my cage and looked out. There were many more peoples than normal, and most of them didn't wear the same clothes as I normally see. A girl, about 12, came up to my cage after a while. I had saw a lot of dogs leave with peoples, and most of them were my friends. She looked at me, observing my coat, and then said, "Can I hold this one?" One of the working peoples took me out of my cage-I shivered at how cold his hands were-and handed me to the girl. She held me in her arms and cradled me. It felt good. Her shirt was soft and her hands were warm. I looked up at her face to find her eyes soft and her mouth stretched in a wide grin. "I'll take him," she said. Her parents went with a working people and scribbled on some papers. She bounced me in her arms. "I'm Hayley," she whispered. "What should I call you?" After a moment, her eyes sparkled. "I'll call you Dragon!" And so I got my first name. As we all walked out the door, I looked back at my home, the one I've always had, and sighed. I got myself a people.

-giggles- I figured I may as well make it sound like a dog is actually writing it, and I'm not sure if he knows what a human is, but I'm sure he's heard the phrase "people" so he'll probably refer to them as peoples.

Ack! I didn't add a second entry yesterday. -kicks self- I'll write it here. Second entry Dear Diary,
Last night I slept in what the peoples call a "bed". I was all curled up with the girl, her name is Kayla. It was much warmer that my cage, and I can't even begin to say how comfortable. When they took me here, in a big monster machine, I was pretty scared. I didn't really know what they were going to do to me. I sniffed everywhere I could, but I didn't find anything suspicious. When I woke up my belly was growling. I moaned and pawed at Kayla's stomach. She got up and gave me this stuff in a metal can. It tasted odd, but very yummy. Better than the kibble at the pound, as Kayla called it. I took more time today to explore the house. I realized that her parents didn't mind me getting on a big, comfy, leather seat called a couch, as long as I didn't "go." Like I was going anywhere. They keep laying this paper stuff out. I think I'm supposed to pee on it. They only get mad when I don't, so it's the best thing that makes sense. We watched moving pictures on a thing called a "tv." That afternoon she took me to this big backyard. I didn't usually go outside at the pound, but this was really fun. Kayla took this round thing called a "ball" and threw it across the yard. It's fun to chase, and it feels good to chew on. I'm learning a lot of peoples speak. Anyways, I'd better go to sleep. But first I should do my business one more time...
