Nothing is Perfect

Rustling leaves stirred up as the ancient pack, Kalmeraboo, marched across the forest floor. Hundreds of them were scattered everywhere, since they have all fallen off. Trees were everywhere, too. Most of them were bare, looking tired and useless. Others had only a few leaves. Humans today would never see as many trees in such a simple forest. Fall was leaving, and so was the Kalmeraboo. Each year, they leave The Great Raboo forest, heading North. They were heading towards the great mountain, Kalmera. It was a perfect place for Kalmeraboo pups to be raised. They were always raised in the winter, at the peak of Kalmera. Many animals, plants, and bodies of water were there in winter, which the forest did not have. A nearby pond, a half of a mile long, was quite nearby. It would soon freeze up. The pack leader stopped and listened carefully. He broadened his chest and sniffed the air cautiously. He smelled a strange presence around him, but could not identify what it actually was. He discarded the idea of being followed and decided it was a nuisance for the pack to begin whining of thirst and hunger. They have been traveling for twelve hours straight, after all. The alpha thought for a moment, and then changed directions and began moving out to the pond. The pack hesitated because of such kindness for them, but followed shortly after the alpha left. The wolves finally reached the destination, and lied down immediately to relax there sore paws. They were not just in pain, but also numb and wet. It had taken yet another 30 minutes to reach the place. Every wolf was exhausted. The alpha, though very tired indeed, he guarded the pond for any sign of something that could harm his pack. The presence was still around could his mate feel it as well? He wasnt sure what the presence was. The leader began to pace. The scent was too awkward! Then, he remembered the same scent that he smelled before. The Kalmeraboo Indians were watching his pack. The alpha suddenly realized the Indians were after them. It all made perfect sense. The wolf howled a battle cry. His pack began smelling the same scent. It was the last fight the alpha would be in. The Indians took there spears and made there own battle cry. Before you know it, the war had started. Spears were flying threw the air repeatedly. Wolves had started to fight and weaken the Indians. The wolves were dropping dead like flies. Two Indians died every minute. The wolves fangs were no match to the Kalmeraboos weapons. Soon, the Indian leader walked towards the wolves with a deathly spear. The Kalmeraboo leader ordered the others to head on back. When the Indians were out of sight, the leader was about to shout the spear at the alphas mate. When everyone thought it was the end, from out of the thick, bloody shrubbery the pack alpha had come for there rescue! He howled and growled at the Kalmeraboo Indian leader. He lunged at the Indian. His fangs were completely exposed, showing all his fearless reign and terror. The wolves yipped with joy and happiness. They were saved! The wolf leader was heading straight towards the Indians neck. He was going to end it all there. SLICE! The spear went straight threw the wolves heart. The alpha froze and slid down the arrow and onto the Indian. The pack whimpered in fear, and the female alpha lead the pack defeated in this battle, shivering in disbelief, out of the area as quick as a wink. And as fast as it started, it had ended.
