RE: My fotography. (Got the D40, pics up)

yay pinnacles
We only brought a few water bottles with us on the hike and we ran out (we were so unprepared D:) and we were all exhausted from that by the time we were heading back, we were all nearly throwing up so we left early. It was fun though and I took a lot of pictures.
I can't believe how much I drank when we got back to the truck :D I had 2 bottles of water and 2 cokes in probably less than 10 minutes.

I was only gonna shoot a few RAWs here and there but I forgot to change it back to JPeg, and for that im kinda lucky... most of the regular JPegs turned out bad, but the RAWs are great - the ones that were bad I was able to fix up.
I took RAWs occasionally in the same area as the regular JPegs so there's gonna be 2 batches. ah hop u don mind

Also, I occasionally couldn't see the LCD screen too well so I couldn't tell if I was over/underexposing, but most were alright.

I wasn't able to save them as .png like Lock sayz i should, but distortion won't show up too much in these pictures like they did in the star ones.

1st batch, regular JPegs:

I had no idea >:(

the view alongside the road, scary huh?

that place looked scarier the closer we got to it :(

One of my favorites, I'd like it even more if it was a bit darker though. I'll fix it later.

Those shadows were fun to mess with, I have a way better RAW version later.

those too. The hikers in the background, who i have no relation to at all, blended in well too. (yes, at this point we were already in the scary rocky place)

that was a really weird tree in the background...

blurry, but gimme a D for effort :(

I was hanging out in a cave. I was hoping those 2 rocks didn't fall and kill me.

I'm guessing some guy named White wrote that at the end of the cave in 1961.

That rock looks like bigfoot/homer simpson/a dude.

On the way back we saw a hawk. As exhausted as I was I took a few pics. I need a telephoto lens :(

overexposed :(

While taking those pics, this dude walked up to me:

yeah... o_O

yez, the road was clearly inspired by San Francisco or something, yes I'm aware I screwed the focus :(

That's it for the regular batch. Now the better pics :D

I was trying to take bird pics in the parking lot. They were wearing me out.

(edit of the one before it)

(edit of the one before it)

There was a hole in the top of the cave.

Flash, to give you an idea of what it was.

I overexposed this birdy in the parking lot (one of the ways they were wearing me out) but luckily I was shooting in RAWs, so I just simply edited that :)

:D

oops

(yes, edited)

I did a few edits of shots like that, you can tell which ones are edited by how dark the shadows are ok?

......*flips off*

The better shadows image.

edited to intensify the shadows on the ground a bit

once again the hikers who I have no relation to, I was just following them for no reason at all.
yes I used a polarizing filter, that distortion is from Photobucket me thinkz

edited
I like that one.

My mom amayzingly spotted that one berry.

again it was Photobucket that killed the edges >:( It's way sharper off-interwebz. I would have saved them as .png but just the jpegs take long enough to upload.

A small cave. I climbed all the way to the end of it... I felt so proud.
It was hard getting down though, I had to do it without breaking my camera... I nearly broke my ankle doing so :( (I had to jump down without falling over, and it was very rocky).
At least I learned I'm good at rock climbing, since I did it without falling or damaging my camera :)

>:(

:D

That's everything worth looking at, i thinks
Sorry it's unorganized and an extremely long post, I'm too tired to sort things :)

These are way sharper than they are shown on Photobucket. If you want the full sized images so you can see, PM/IM me.

@filly: thx:D I like it too, probably because of the detail and I think that one was a RAW so I can make a purdy HDR out of it too.

@pc: fnx, u should go there if u like caves... we only went to one small one and another long one, it wuz rly narrow and there was leik a 20 foot drop that was fun to dump trash in

@ labbi: fnx
i think thatz the one im gonna make the HDR outta

Your flip-off caption made me chuckle.

For the screwy focus ones, were you using manual? Manual's fun to use, but AF is practical. :P

I like the edited one with the dude in the straw hat. The colors match his farmer hat! Yay!

Those are wicked, you must have a really strong polirazer. That was what you used on the two shots Gilly + Labby posted, no? Now I see I really need to get one. :( Looks like an ND kinda.

thx

It was these filters. The polarizer was good, but you have to turn those things to get the effect you want so that kinda screws up the focus if you have it on manual. You have to hold the focus ring in place while you turn it. It's really good though.
