I just watched a documentary of pet food, mainly for dogs and cats.
It was quite disturbing, I'm surprised I made it through the whole thing.

The thing I found most disturbing was that a mixture of old boots, wood shavings, and other stuff is equivalent to what 99% of pet food is made up of today.

Who the heck knows what your pet could be eating. To be honest with you, after seeing that, I am dead scared. Over 10,000 pets died from eating this crap. And not because of the recall. That's part of the reason, but the other part is all the crap that they put into it.

Another thing I found interesting, was false advertising. It was Purina Dog/Puppy Chow I think, they said in one of their ads, that 1.8 years of life span can be added onto your dog's life if you regularly give them the food.
People did a study (not Purina obviously), and they gave a dog a big bowl of Purina dog chow, and another dog a small bowl of it, and the dog who lived longer was the one who ate less of it.

One more thing, was the by-products that went into the food. Chicken heads, feet, beaks, you name it. It's in there. It made me so..sick inside. And this is what my dogs can be eating right now?! And my cat? o.o

And apparently, dry cat food isn't good for them because of the crap that's in it. Apparently it doesn't have enough nutrients that a cat should be getting. With all the corn meal and all that goes into it, it reduces the amount of nutrition, and there's not enough meat to satisfy your cat's needs.

Interesting eh?
Kinda makes you wonder how safe your pet really is.
