The Official Simple Plan Thread -- Concert pictures and videos from yesterday!!

By me

I know, I bet you never saw this coming. :D
Haha. Well, this is obviously to discuss the band Simple Plan..and yeah.
You know the rules..so have fun.

About SP:

I'll do this to the best of my knowledge..but I've been a fan for seven years so it shouldn't be a problem.
They were all raised in Montreal, Quebec, except for David, he was somewhere else in the province. All four guys (Pierre, Jeff, Seb and Chuck) went to high school together, David didn't. Chuck and Pierre formed their first band at 13, and their music career went on from there. They started with the band Reset, but left it after a few years, and David took over Pierre as the lead singer. So Pierre, Seb, Chuck and Jeff came together to form a band, and David left Reset to join it, thus forming Simple Plan.
Since 2001, they've sold over 7 million albums, sold out lots of concerts, and recorded four CDs and one DVD, one of the CDs being a live/concert one. No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls was their debut CD that was released in 2002, and had quite a few hits such as "I'd Do Anything", "I'm Just A Kid", "Perfect" and "Addicted". A year later, in 2003, they came out with a full length DVD which had lots of funny footage of the guys, plus all the music videos they had up to that point. A year later, in October 2004, Still Not Getting Any... was released and was quite a transition from their debut with hits like "Shut Up!", "Welcome To My Life", "Perfect World", "Crazy" and "Untitled". In 2005, Simple Plan released their live album, MTV Hard Rock Live which was broadcasted on TV on MTV. Then came the touring. Simple Plan went all over the place after Still Not Getting Any... was released, and didn't stop. Until they had to sit down and start thinking what their next album was gonna be like. Three years later, in February 2008, we got...
SIMPLE PLAN.
This was a major step for the boys, but they felt good about it. They put more work into it than they ever had to for any of their previous CDs, and apparently it paid off with selling more than any album they've made. So far four singles made it off their new one, like "When I'm Gone", "Love Is A Lie", the emotional "Save You", and "No Love". Since February, Simple Plan's been all over, once again.
Simple Plan's had a lot of success, and according to Sebastien in one of their webchats, we can expect to see a fourth album within the next few years.

I have to say, that was really fun to write lmao.
I FEEL LIKE I WROTE AN ESSAY. :D

NEWS:

3/28/09:

SP's up for some Juno Awards tomorrow. The Junos are basically the Canadian Grammys, so YEAH! They're up for best Canadian band, and best album! I'm hoping they win at least one, they're up against some pretty unknown people and they've won a lot of awards like this in the past, so I have hope. :D
And plus, they're performing! I'm really excited to see if they're gonna perform their latest single, No Love. It's been playing like crazy on the radio here.

And now they've stopped touring for good, so I think they're gonna go back to writing songs and prepping for the fourth (whoa) album until the summer, when they're hopefully gonna have their summer tour! Also I've heard of a new full length DVD being released sometime after touring which is now, and we haven't had a new one since 2003 (we've had DVDs, but only 20 minute ones, not an actual movie), so that gets me extremely excited!

2/16/09:

They're nominated for two Juno awards, which are the Canadian Grammys basically haha.
Best Group of the Year and Best Album of the Year and they're up against...no name people. So they have a good chance of winning haha. And they're performing! So that's on March 29th in Vancouver.

There are also rumors (and some confirmations) of a North American tour this summer, I hope it's true, but I heard it was only for the US until Seb actually said they might come to some places in Canada, which means they're coming here because there's no way they're skipping their hometown so YAY.

And uhhh..yeah I don't know I think that's all that's going on with them now, I think after the Junos and their next NA tour they're gonna go back in the studio! Which is exciting, I'm really anxious to see the stuff they're gonna record next. Or hear rather.

RE: The Official Simple Plan Thread

Yay! I was gonna make one, but decided I didn't know enough about them, and I was almost positive YOU were gonna make a really cool one too. xDD

I heart the banner!

My current favorite Simple Plan song is When I'm Gone. It's very catchy, has a great beat, and great vocals, as usual. I'm gonna buy the new self-titled album when I get my next iTunes gift card. I'm so excited; their songs rock!
I also love Your Love is a Lie and Save You, but I haven't heard that many songs yet.

I remember that Simple Plan was the first newer rock music I listened to.
(THANK YOU SAMMY BOO!!)
Sam let me listen to Welcome to my life on her mp3 player, and I liked it. But back then, I couldn't download music..xD

But so yes, Simple Plan technically got me into liking more than classic rock.
:D

Ha. They were my first actual favorite rock band, too. :3
I was around 8 or 9 as well..so it's a good 8 years since I started listening to them. I seriously remember them playing shows in front of 10 people before they got really big, their DVD talks all about that and how they got to where they are today.

What If is definitely one of my favorites from the new album too, and Save You. It's so hard to pick a favorite song though, they're all so friggen amazing. Their sound has matured so much but they still managed to keep that "Simple Plan" mark and it's just.....wow.

Collar: LISTEN. Preview the new album on iTunes even if you can't buy it yet seriously. D: XD And their second one as well. :B OH and thank you. I seriously whipped it up in 10 minutes for something fast. ;D XD

Sam: MINE TOO. I have it somewhere still on VHS...lmao. I was like 10, and I was totally into Scooby Doo and I see Simple Plan was on it and I was like "O_______________O! OMG SIMPLE PLAN'S ON SCOOBY DOO MOMMY LOOK!!!!" and I went insane. On the DVD it shows them recording the voices..lmao. I should look for it on YouTube.
They're very affiliated with it, the theme song is by them, and for the actual Scooby Doo movies (Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed) they recorded "I Don't Wanna Think About You" just for the movie...and the music video is them going to see the second SD movie and they're late and they like run to the movie theatre. Lmao. It's funny. :D

....wow this post is really, really long. XD

Dude I LOVED watching "I Don't Wanna Think About You" on the Scooby Doo DVD. :D I used to watch it over and over. And then bother all my friends about how cool they were and they just kinda ignored me..ROLLY DOWN THE HILL! lmao
And I have the first one's soundtrack with "Grow Up" on it...
It was like my favorite song. xD

And I remember that one time was watching TV, on Nick and they showed Welcome To My Life's video and I liked flipped out...
xD Good times..
