Chapter 12: Was I really there? Was I really at my first dog show with my first dog? I couldn't belive it, but I was. I waited with Muffin for my turn to go let the judges examine him and let him stride around the ring along my side. I hope Muffin remembered to cooperate like I practiced. If not, the little guy still rocked, after all, he was the one that got my dad when I was hurt. And my dad got the ambulance, who helped me. Come to think of it, the doctor's little "comment"was still bugging me. Anyways, the booming microphone finally called Muffins and me. I walked to a little table and picked him up to set him on it. The judges carefully checked him, and he was fine with it. Then, I took him around the ring. He walked like a typical pug, but short legs can only get youso far. He didn't run ahead of me or strain at his leash or anything, so I was proud of him. When he was done walking around, I went back into the neat line of owners and dogs. The last person in the show, who went after me, looked familiar. He had a brown and white short-haired chihuahua, and he had to carry it all the way to the table because the dog wouldn't move. Then, the judges examined it and it snapped at them. When it ran around the ring, it tried to jump onto the guy, and then tried to drag him along. This guy sure wasn't gonna win. The show was only for toy dogs, so it was time for the winners. "Wow! For the first time ever, the winner is the same person for third, second, and first place! The winner of these is John Malowski and his chihuahua, Ruffles!" one judge said. "But how?" the other said in awe. "Well, everyone else, all the other 999 people seemed to have gotten a 0!" the first judge replied. "What?" I burst out, but the cheer from the man that won made it too loud to hear me. I looked over at him, it was the guy with the chihua that wouldn't move, snapped, jumped, and tried to drag his owner along. I was so upset. I looked at the man again. The name Malowski sounded familiar as his face. Suddenly, I remembered. "Dr. Malowski!" I thought. It was the freaky doctor from the hospital.
Chapter 13: "No!" I shouted out. "He can't win, there must be some sort of mistake! Noone could've given this guy any higher than a 4, and we all got a 0? That's not right!"
Dr. Malowski spun around and gave me a glare. Then he suddenly put on a phony smile and happily walked toward me.
"Why hello! Weren't you one of my patients?" he sad in his fake nice voice. I didn't answer, I just shot him a glare. "I think you are! How's your nose and neck doing? They look wonderful!" He kept going. "You said that at my last appointment," I muttered. "Well, come on, the show's done, let's take you to your mom," He replied. Then he tried to pull me out of the ring to where my mom was, but I refused to go and shook him off me. "No, you cheated. I'm not leaving until you admit to it. I know you've been planning this out, you even said you'd see me later if I had a dog." "No, I didn't! That wouldn't make sense because this show is only for toy dogs. I didn't ask if you had a toy dog!" He replied. I realized he was right. He didn't ask me. But I wasn't going to give up, I knew he must've cheated. "No, this isn't fair! You cheated and you know it!" I shouted without thinking. My voice was loud and angry, and it described my feelings. "I'm sorry, Ms. Dane, but the show is over, and you would be disqualified if it weren't. You can't go to any AKC Dog Shows for the next 6 months." The main anouncer said. Suddenly, Muffin jumped up onto Dr. Malowski's pants, but when he came down, he clenched them in his teeth so the pants tore at the bottom. "Let me take you to your mom," he said. "Don't worry about the pants." He led me out of the ring and to my mom. "Stay out of everything. I have big plans and I won't let them get ruined by an 11-year-old." He told me on the way over. When I reached my mom, she told me I stood up for myself and what I did was great. But I wasn't paying attention to her. I was looking at a boy my age. He was so sad and disappointed, but he smiled when he saw me. He slipped a paper to me and I picked it up and opened it. It said:
I think you're right. This guy probably cheated. He's my doctor and he handed me a paper one day saying he'd see me at the AKC Toy Dog Show. I thought it was wierd, and I wanna find out what's going on. Call me if you wanna figure this out with me.
Then it had his phone number at the bottom. I stuffed it into a bag with all Muffins stuff in it. Then I left.
Wow, this is firghtening! The docter is freaking me out, and apparently Nikki too. Is he gonna kill her or something? Why is he so interested by the fact she has a dog? Is he gonna steal Muffin? No wait- don't answer any of those. Let the suspicions drive me nuts.
Anyways, great story! I caught up on the chapters I missed, and it's still great...just a little creepy, as I mentioned before. Keep it up!
