Hello fellow NKC Members! Welcome to the NKC Post of the Week Contest!
The Post of the Week Contest (PotW) is a competition in which users can nominate any post(s) that they feel deserve to be recognized as the best post of the week on the NKC boards. Each week, with your help, a list of nominations is generated for our judges to read through and review. By the weeks end, all judges place their votes for the posts that they felt were most outstanding for that week, and the top three winners are chosen. The winners are then placed in the PotW Archives(Coming soon!), where they will forever hold an honorable spot amongst other quality posts. Signature goodies are also included for the winners.
To nominate a post for PotW, please make a reply in this thread (PMs will not be accepted) with the following information: the author of the post you would like to nominate, the title, a URL to the post, and the date the post was made. Along with your efforts, the PotW staff will frequently be reading through threads in order to spot any other deserving posts that should be nominated. If you are interested in participating, please read the following guidelines below before making your nomination.
Nomination Rules and Requirements
Along with initial posts (first post in a thread), replies to posts may also be nominated.
Users may nominate as many posts as they like.
Users may nominate their own posts.
Any post may be nominated, as long as it abides by the NSider forum rules. If a nominated post violates any forum rule, it is immediately disqualified from the contest.
Please only nominate posts from active threads. In the event that a thread containing a nominated post is locked after it was nominated, the post will be reviewed by the mod-judges for its eligibility in the contest. However, please do not intentionally nominate posts from locked threads. If a nominated post is deleted after it is nominated, it is disqualified from the contest.
Nominated posts must be no more than 30 days old from the marker for that weeks contest. (Example: For the week of March 25, the post must have been made on Feb. 24 or later to be eligible. A post made on Feb 23 would not be eligible.)
Nominations for each week can be made starting at 00:01 EST Sunday of that week, until 17:59 EST Friday. No nominations will be taken on Saturdays, as those are voting days for the judges. Winners are posted on/around 18:00 PST on Sunday.
There is no word limit for a post to be eligible for PotW. However, please be considerate and mindful of the content you are nominating, and do not nominate seriously lacking posts.
Posts that are nominated can be from the any board. Posts from other boards are eligible for this contest.
Judges cannot participate in PO PotW. Therefore, posts made by any NKC PotW judges may not be nominated.
Important Notes
There is no limit to the amount of times a specific user can win PotW. Therefore, any user is eligible for each weeks contest, even if they were a winner the previous week. A winning post, however, can only win once. This means that no matter the posts placement in the contest (1st, 2nd, 3rd) it cannot be nominated again to try for a higher placement. Contests or other types of posts with more than one season/version may only win with one version. If one version places in PotW, all previous/future versions of that idea will be ineligible.
Posts that do not place for the week they are nominated will be carried over into the following weeks list of nominations (if still eligible) to be given one last chance. If they do not place in their second week, the posts are dropped from the nominations unless they are nominated by a user again.
All types of threads are eligible to win PotW given that they are genuine in nature and are not misleading to viewers. At the mod-judges discretion, nominations that seem questionable in nature may be pulled from the contest, as they see fit. If there is ever a serious discrepancy over such a decision, please PM any one of the mod-judges to discuss the matter. Posts about this topic will not be acknowledged, and will most likely be removed.
If you have any questions or suggestions about the NKC PotW Contest, feel free to PM any one of the mod-judges and they will be happy to help you. Please try to keep these topics exclusive to PMs.
Helpful Writing Tips
The PotW Contest looks for quality posts, so be sure to clean up your post by checking for grammar/syntax errors. Do your best to keep your ideas organized.
Discussion is always a plus, so dont be afraid to state your opinions about a given issue. Just be sure that you have reasons/supports to back up your statements, rather than making unreasonable claims.
Try to elaborate on your thoughts/ideas. Although length isnt a requirement to be entered in the PotW Contest, more developed posts are likely to stand a better chance. Complete your thoughts/ideas, and dont sell yourself short.
Be creative and try to be original with what you do. Our judges will be reading through numerous nominations, and its always beneficial to give your post a way to stand out more.

The Judges are the users that vote and decide which of the nominated posts for each week deserve to be winners. They also help search for possible nominations to add to each weeks list.
