Chapter 3: Moonspell fell into a deep sleep and awoke the next morning. Everyone was already awake. Suddenly, the pup realized that his eyes and ears had opened the day before. He was so happy to get a family he didn't even realize it. Moondance's eyes and ears were also open, but Moonspell found out that it was rae, but some animals' eyes and ears opened as early as a day old, and it ran in his family. It was odd though for Moonspell, because he wasn't related to Moondance, but he figured it was the same thing. Nothing happened that first morning with Moondance. I just had to let you know about what Moonspell realized, because it means something, but I can't tell you what, you'll just have to find out later in the story. Anyways, weeks passed and Moondance had so much fun with his family. One morning, Missie said the pups were getting older and they need other nicknames besides 'Spell' and 'Dance'. "Moondance, you'll be called Toby. Moonspell, you're Star." Missie said. "But, Mom, isn't Star a girl name?" Moonspell, or Star, said. "Moonspell, I'm sorry I didn't tell you before but-" Missie began but a man picked her up and put her in a cage. Missie, Toby, and Star jumped. Two other men approached Toby and Star, but the cat and dog ran from them. "Mom!! Don't go!!" They called as they turned around and ran toward their mom. "Star, you're a girl, I forgot to tell you but it's just I only named you, and you were always playing with Moondance so I realized you thought you were like him and I couldn't find a time or way to tell you! I'm sorry!" Missie called. The man was walking away with her. Star stopped, startled. She slowly began shaking her head. "I can't believe it." she said. "Come on, Star!" Toby said, also stopping. Suddenly Star lifted her head as she remembered something. She remembered her mom. She remembered her silver fur and pointy ears, just like Star's, and she remembered what she told her. "Darling, I'm dying, I can't stay with you. I was caught by animal catchers and injected with a little of a terrible shot because there were too many animals, and noone would adopt me. I don't know what whoever finds you will name you, but your birth name will always be Star to me. You look just like one, twinkling in my eyes. Good bye, Star, but I'll always be with you, remmeber that. Take care of yourselves, and others around you." Star's mom had said. "That's an animal catcher, Toby! We have to save her!" Star said. They both started running again at full sprint. Star angrily began barking while Toby meowed. They were catching up fast. "We're almost there, Toby! We're gonna make it! Be careful, though, because my mom died when animal catchers caught her. She couldn't get adopted so they gave her a little of a bad shot. They're dangerous and we have to save her!!" Star said as she ran. The animal catchers reached a car and opened the large back. They pt the cage in and shut the doors to the back. Toby and Star reached the car when the three animal catchers were loading their things into the seats and didn't notice the animals. "Star, let's try to open the back of the car, Mom's in there!" Toby whispered. "Ok," The animals jumped on a ledge below the doors and stood on their hind feet. "I can't reach the door, Star!" Toby cried. "Me neither!" Star said. "I'll stand on all four of my legs, Star, and you stand on my back and open the door, okay?" Toby said. So that's what they did. When they got in their, they saw a lot of animals in cages.Star knew a lot of animals must have been dying because of the same thing that her mom died from, so they decided to open all the cages and let the animals out. It wasn't hard because they only had to bite a latch and pull it back for the cage to open. Soon, a bunch of animals were running out the truck and three frantic men were chasing after them.
Chapter 4: Toby and Star began running with the other animals. As they ran they looked around for Missie. They couldn't find her, but they knew she was with the other animals because noone was left behind and everyone was running. Soon everyone slowed down to walk, and began going down on a dirt path that went into a hole underground. "Maya, could you close up the hole and come in through the back?" a shiny silvery-gray dog at the front of the room said. He turned around and faced everyone. Star and Toby were at the back of the room, looking for their mom. Suddenly, a dog dropped big piles of leaves down to cover up the path that led them down, hiding the entrance. The leaves fell right on Toby and Star and they were so shocked that they let out a screech. The silvery-gray dog that first spoke ran up to them. "It's alright, don't worry, it's just some harmless leaves that we use to cover up this place. Hang on and I'll get them off you," he said kindly in a voice that was sort of scratchy. He moved the leaves around and got Star and Toby out. Star was crying quietly, and the silvery-gray dog gave her a sad look. He moved closer to her and rubbed his head against her soothingly. "Don't cry. I know you're probably confused and scared, but I'll explain everything right now," he said. Star looked down at the ground and didn't say anything. Then a loud squeal let out in the room.
Actually, they don't inject dogs with stuff that kills them, but they get thier hopes up by bringing them out of thier cages, and when they do, they stick them all in a BIG metal box. Then they close it, (lot of barking) fill it with deadly gas, (no more barking...O_O) and then...They die...Then they pull out some PUPPIES, with their little wagging tails, untop of the other dead dogs, yipping at the people, SO happy to be out, and then...Same thing.

Really? Not all shelters do that, though. When they say the humanely put them to sleep they inject them. ;) but glad you read the story, do you like it? Thanks Jayman, I'll put some up! ^_^
Chapter 5: Star lifted her silver head but kept her pointed ears back. The silver wolf talking to her stood up straight and pricked up his ears, which were also pointy.
"What was that?" he asked loudly and cautiously.
Then another yelp came, louder and clearer this time. The silver wolf ran to the front of the room. "Welcome to Pack Nokelli. Some of you are new, but you're welcome here. We live here, and noone but us know about this place. It's for all animals. For newcomers, welcome to the pack! I'm Everest. Now can somebody please tell me what's going on?" he shouted quickly. Another loud yelp came. Everest froze when he heard it, then rushed over to where Star and Toby were. He went through the pile of leaves and they flew everywhere. Star saw him run up the dirt ramp through the leaves. "Come on!" he shouted as he ran.All the animals ran behind him, including Toby and Star. When they got up there, Maya, the yellow lab that threw the leaves down, was laying down on her side. In front of her, a large brown wolf also layed on its side with its mouth open. Everest ran up to her. "Dennis," he growled. "Good job with him, Maya. Are you okay?" "It hurts. It hurts." "What? Tell me what hurts." "My back. It hurts. I-I-I think I broke it."
