                                                 Chapter 6:
  "Maya, we're going to have to try to bring you down. It might hurt a little, but that's the only way we can help you. Otherwise, those catchers will find us," Everest said calmly. "C'mon everyone! Let's get Maya down into the den, and bring the greedy wolf, too! We don't want to show any trace of us." 
  Everyone started moving forward and lifting up Maya and the other wolf, who seemed to be named Dennis. It was hard for Star and Toby, so they went on their hind legs and tried to help push Maya up. Toby fell onto his face, though, and everyone nearly trampled him.
  "Silver dog, Silver cat," Everest,who hadn't moved, said loudly.

 It took Star and Toby a while to realize that Everest meant them. They squeezed through everyone and walked toward him.
  "Don't worry, you can stay here," Everest told them. 
  "Thank you," Star finally uttered. For some reason, she didn't feel very scared of him, she was just shy. She felt like he was familiar, but that was probably because he was so nice and friendly. 
  When everyone got Maya and the lifeless Dennis into the den, Everest led Star and Toby down, then he returned to the front of the room.
 "Mactors could you check Maya's back? Everyone else, please don't make too much noise," He shouted.
  "What are Mactors, Toby?" Star whispered.
  "Well, I don't know but I think they're like doctors. I've heard about the human world, and when people get sick or hurt, a doctor checks their health and cures them and stuff. So I think that's what Mactors are here," Toby replied unsurely. 
  "Oh, ok." 
 A group of dogs all went up to Maya and looked her over. She was weeping in pain. The Mactors chatted with each other, then stepped forward.
  "Maya's back is severely broken, this wolf, Dennis, must have had a powerful jaw because there are several bite marks on her back and we have to help her. Her back needs to be bandaged, and it's also infected so she needs special food so we can be sure what she eats makes this worse," one of them began.   
  "Alright, you heard everyone, the back half of the room, go look for food, the front half, stay here and bandage Maya's back." Everest shouted quickly. 
  Toby and Star were in the back half, so they went off looking for food. They still didn't know where their mom was, they were unsure of what was really going on and where they were. They didn't know where to look for food, or if any of the animals would hurt them. It was like a new beginning, but was it going to be a good one?

 

Yay! The story is SOO good! I just don't get why Dennis bit Maya. Can you please explain that to me?
