The group of animals began smelling an odd scent, a little like dry fish and chicken. Darkness was creeping up, so the animals just followed the scent, hoping for some food for Maya. They all got to the place where the truck that kept the animals locked away was. The people were gone, though, which was a relief. There were bags of dog food outside the truck. "I suppose this is different food. It smells like food, but it also smells.... different," A large german shephard said. All the animals started coming forward to help pull a bag with them. When they got back to Maya and the others, Everest and some other dogs ripped open the bag and put it on a large leaf for Maya, who was bandaged on the whole middle of her body. She slowly rolled onto her stomach and began eating. "Okay, everyone, leave her alone. Let's go back outside for a small get together. That way we can welcome new members to our group," Everest said, leading the way up the ramp. About 15 animals, including Toby and Star, introduced themselves and they all talked. Then, they all explore the forest. By the time they got back it was late and everyone went to sleep. They were awakened by Everest shouting,"Maya's dead!!"
