Prologe

Hey, maybe you are wondering, "Who are you, anyways?" Heh, it's like I'm reading your mind, eh? Well, yes. Before I introduce myself, I'll tell you why I am talking to you in the first place. All thanks to my boyfriend, who says I have and interesting life, I would be hunting elk or sleeping right now. I am Waterfall; a black Siberian Husky; part wolf, part husky. My eyes have a penetrating, deep blue color, but at the same time, they are crystal blue. Behind my left ear I have to brown feathers that Akit, my boyfriend, gave to me as a one year anniversary for our "friendship." So, are you interested to hear my story? I'm sure you are! So here it is, my past. Happy now?

It all began when I was born. I was misunderstood that I couldn't see anything, because I was born with white eyes. Alas, it seemed that I was blind because I always fell. My owners didn't want me, so they left me in the woods. When I got there, my eyes turned blue. I was in instant touch with my wolf nature, like I said before, I have wolf traits on my blood. I ran, prancing like a deer that freely jumped in the woods, or like a beautiful dove that flew, dancing with the wind, without no one to stop it. I sniffed all I saw; like, a tiny frog that hopped all around, I followed it and sniffed it. I smiled when I saw a little bird sing right next to me, not seeing me as a threat. I saw fox pups playing around in their dens, and I got a chance to play with one Hide And Seek. I really enjoyed it; it was worthwhile!

A couple of months later, I was bigger; in fact, about the size of a baby tree. I became a year old then. I made my own den next to a giant tree, full of giant holes, with giant leaves, and it was perfect for a "giant" animal like myself, he, he. So I made the den of feathers, fur, grass, and everything soft that I saw. When the moon was viewable in the horizon, I always went back to my cozy den, and curled up like a black furball; only my eyes, that were like two blue spots on my fur, could be seen.

It was freezing; it was late Winter, so that means that the snow was slowly melting away... So it meant two words: hungry bears. So I was always on a constant watch. And it was worth it; after a while, I heard a horrid sound coming from behind the tree I was. My ears perked up, looking for the sound; when I looked to the tree behind me, I saw that giant black figure, standing on his back legs... I ran, desesperately to find a new shelter. The bear was right behind me, laughing, and yelling to the top of his lungs:

"Where ya goin' meatball? It's lunch time, y'all invited! Har har!"

I was scared to death. I ran so fast that I ended up under a another tree, and I stood there, quiet, without moving, waiting for the danger to end. I heard the bear's agitated breathing that slowly was heard more distant, and more away; then it was quiet, which told me that he left. But it wasn't like that; when I ran out, he was still there. I ran towards a waterfall... I fell, I cried. When I made full impact, I didn't move for a long time...

Chaper 1, part 1: My Past

After a while, I noticed that I was dry; this meant that I was dragged out of the water a few hours ago... I stood, a little disoriented; I looked left, I looked right, and I saw no one... Then, when I least expected it, I saw a brown wolf coming my way. His yellow eyes were so beautiful that I... anyway. The wolf smiled as he walked towards where I want, but I wasn't so happy. I stood up and made a little growl just to let him know that I could attack.

"Who are you?" I yelled, as I noticed he stopped moving.
"Akit," said the wolf. "I was the one that dragged you out of that waterfall, you should be thankful. You almost died out there."
"Thank you so much! I was almost eaten by a bear," I said.
"Seriously? That same bear attacked me right now, when I was making sure you were O.K. We should do something about it, right?" he suggested.
"He he, no, I'm only a year old, what more could I do?" I said.
"If I'm a year old and I've killed bears, why can't you?"

I stood quiet, and walked towards him. I sat down next to him and admired his stature; he was too big to be a year old. His pelt, a light brown mixed with shades of black, a yellowish tan, white, dark brown... just like a pure wolf. His eyes were as yellow as the sun, his markings were amazing; a black line covering his entire back, making a striped pattern, like those animals with stripes... the tiger? Right. His paws were white as the clouds, his figure was robust, the muscles showing in each part of his body... he was just gorgeous.

I stared at him and asked,

"So... who really are you?"
"I'm Alpha of the Inhira Pack, made of ten wolves. We just started, we need more members... and I have no Alphaess," he said on a flirty way.
"Aaaand?"
"...nothing," he continued. "Anyway, my mother recently died, and my father is nowhere to be found. Even if I send my wisest scouts to find him, he will not appear. I really wish I could spend some time with him; I loved him so much..."

I put my paw on top of his paw, as a way of confort, and I smiled. He looked at me, rather surprised about my reaction to his story.

"I haven't seen my parents since birth; you're lucky you got to be raised with them."
"Really? Sorry to hear that."

The afternoon soon became night, since we talked for hours that seemed an eternity; the birds started to fly to their nests, and the creatures of the night walked out to hunt and etc. I soon noticed the moon, as giant as his heart was, slowly emerging from the horizon. I standed up and said,

"Well, I think it's time for us to go,"
"Do you want to come to my pack? The members are friendly," he smiled.
"Oh, sure... let's go! My shelter is rather useless now, since I can't fit in it now."
"Thanks for accepting my invitation, so we should get moving. Go on the front, I'll stay on the back to protect you."

I smiled, for once I was happy. I didn't see a wolf so kind in my entire life, that is, this was the first time I saw one, he, he. For once I... was falling in love at first sight.

That same night, we arrived at his pack. Everyone was so nice at me, even the pups were nice. They were under Mahra's care; I think she was their "teacher," if you know what I mean... I feel at home, it's weird for wolves to accept dogs to their packs. But I'm half wolf, so...

Chapter 1, part 2: My Past


There were all types of wolves in here; small ones, medium ones, tall ones, fat ones, skinny ones... it was just a diverse variety of species; timbers, decendants of the legendary Zté dire wolves, hybrids, and so much more. I think I was one of the strange ones; for that I was the only black canine among all those other packmates. Akit introduced me to all the Inhira packmembers; from the youngest one to the oldest, wisest wolf of all.

I made quick friends with the Mahra I mentioned before; she's so nice, and we have practically the same personalities; just opposite fur coats, since she's white and I'm black. Mahra showed me a way to the closest waterfall when I was thirsty, she showed me the best route to take when I went to hunt, one which had lots of food. She showed me the best way to approach other animals; slowly, nicely...

I told her about a strange disease I think I have; it's just that when my anger gets out of control, or my sadness, or if I'm hurt, my vision blurs and I transform into a killing machine. No idea why... she told me the best way to fight this impulsive behavior; to abstain from getting into fights, or if I'm alredy in one, to have self-control. She knows it's hard, since supposedly all the decendants of the Zté dire wolves contain this disease. She is one; so she suffers the same disease, and she told me it's name: Ztéian Fury. I didn't understand at first; was I... was I a Zté wolf? Why do I ask? Because... just because she told me they are bigger than average wolves, and they occasionally breed with dogs. And they are usually white, or their fur coat colors are light. Only once every one-hundred years a black one is born.

Could it be me?

But so on; a few days later, I asked Akit if I could talk with him for a while, to ask him a few questions. He nodded, and smiled; he told me to wait for him at the cave entrance. I agreed, and I walked there, and he went to solve a problem that emerged between two pups. I sat down and looked around the cave, and I found a perfect spot, not too away from the cave entrance. I layed down, awaiting for his imminent return; I was so tired, that my eyes could barely stay opened. They slowly, by each moment closed more and more, until
I began to fall in a deep sleep. Not so long after, I heard Akit's voice on a distant manner; the voice was calling me, softly, whispering my name in my ear, and I noticed I wasn't alone. I slowly opened my eyes to find him laying by my side, waiting for me to wake up. He smiled and asked,

"So, which are the questions that you needed to ask me?"

I, lazily replied, for that I was heavily asleep. I think I acted stupid on this one, or it was that my heart spoke for me, not the Waterfall you're used to.

"Ah... would... you be... mine?" I said, and then noticed what I said was wrong. "...I was dreaming, that's all."

Akit started to laugh, kindly of course; he understood that I was joking, so then he asked me again:

"So...? The questions?"

I shook my head, and answered with yet another question:

"Okay, when will the hunters go out to hunt? I am starving... I haven't eaten in days," I said with a look of sorrow in my face.

"I was just about to give them permission to hunt; hopefully we'll have deer today," he smiled and wagged his tail in contentment.

"Awesome stuff! Also, about the alphaess..." I then replied.
"Yes?"
"...Nothing." I then thought, "What's WRONG with me?!" and I stood up. I then said in shame with my head down and my tail between my legs,

"Nevermind, that's all I needed to--"
"Wait, Waterfall..." he looked at me rather nervous.
"What?"

Suddenly, many barks were heard outside the cave; growls also. Akit and me ran outside, searching desesperately the source of the riot, when suddenly a wolf came with his body completely scarred and said,

"Alpha, my dear Alpha! Our pack is in danger! The Asufre pack is attacking us! Run!"

Akit's eyes opened wide, and told me to stay on the cave and care for Mahra and the pups. I ran inside, looked for Mahra and, once I found her, stood there quiet with her. Then, Akit ran outside, howling, yelling, "Fight for Inhira's history! Give them a fight to honor!" as he ran.

I was scared... Mahra looked at me with sadness and sorrow on her eyes, yet she had that smile that gave me hope... Her smile, that is. Then she said,

"You like him, don't you?"
"N-No, Mah! Don't be crazy," I replied.
"I can see that shine in your eyes... don't worry, I think he likes you back," she smiled.

I thought and grinned, and looked at her. She giggled and said,

"I don't like that smile of yours, heh."

I layed down and closed my eyes... I went to sleep really early that day. Let's see what happens tomorrow...
