Anyone here use Photoshop?

I was considering getting it, but I need to know, how is it different then GIMP? As far as I know, Gimp can do almost anything PS can do, but I'm sure I can be proven wrong.

Well my dad has it, and I've used it at school plenty of times.

But yeah, it's pretty much the same thing as Gimp, with a few differences here and there.

I find Gimp easier to work with than Photoshop, but that's just me. :P

Well, Photoshop is quite hard to understand when you first get it. It's SOMEWHAT like GIMP, in example, GIMP uses layers, and Photoshop too. It's just that PS is more complex.

If I get PS I'm going to buy a book to go with it. :p

Thanks everyone.

I have before. Photoshop 7.0. It's easier than Gimp IMO, in gimp, if you want to do lineart, you need to outline everything. Then, if it's a scanned image, you need to make a new layer, do the linart on that layer, go back to the background, and get rid of the pencil. x_x XD with photoshop, it outlines by itself, i've seen tutorials for it.

I am getting PS soon. But I currently use Corel, which is an Aobe product as well.

Corel is complicated xP And so is PS. Buuuut after a while you figure it all out.

And of course there's a manual. I didn't use the manual 9I figure things out on my own :D) and I understand it.

PS is the real deal. GIMP isn't very well known outside of the internet. And PS is good for more than sigs, unlike GIMP.

In my opinion, GIMP isn't as good as PS.

Buut, I've never used GIMP in my life so I wouldn't know. :P

Thanks everyone, but I decided not to get PS. :p
Turns out GIMP actually is sort of a photoshop alternative, plus I already know GIMP pretty well and that took a long time, I wouldn't want to re-learn everything in PS. GIMP doesn't have ALL of the features PS does, but most of them. Gimp can edit photos like Photoshop can, you just need to learn it.

I'll be going into 3D art instead. :)

I used Adobe PS 2.0 at my Grandpa's, it wasn't very good.
But I'm SURE they've improved. o_o XD Considering they're on 8.0 version? XD
