The term character means a creature, who it can be either a human, an animal, or anything you create, to represent you. Like my Katja, she is a wolf, and she represents me in my personality.
It's so fun making them! You can draw them, or ask someone to draw one for you. All it takes is imagination!

What are characters? I mean it seems like everyone here has one and I don't even know what they are...and how do you get them?
They're just like the characters on TV shows and such. Made up, fake, etc.

For instance I'm gonna do a dinosaur comic, and it's gonne have my characters and only I can use them for things. For instance, if I wanted to use Katja for something, I would need Dogmaster4's permission. If she said "NO OMG NO U KANT USE KATJAAAAAAA >:(" (DM4 I'm JK XD) well then, you can't use Katja for something.
Well, I don't see a character as YOU, but here's my discription:
character (KARE*ECT*ER): A person, animal, beast or in some cases a non-living item or plant that is a part of comic, story, or motion picture, ect. (For example: Nala, Zazu, Simba, and Timon in Lion King.) Those are all characters. As long as they are part of a story or planned to be, or even like a "Gelert" in neopets, can be a simple being you use for certain thing in something not physically happening at the time.

Yep! And you can also create a "Fursona", which is a term used a lot on DevinatART.com. It means it's a character that basically is you in a different form. My character (Gypsy) is my fursona.
