I lovee the second soup picture, the closer crop brings it in nicer I think. Plus this onee..

I like the food pictures and the soup close-up in particular like Ngal. I would try stopping down to get everything in focus, and shooting from farther away using a longer focal length to get rid of the barrel distortion. Maybe add a key light source instead of using ambient light, too.
