Canon owns for overpricing cameras you could get the equality of from Nikon and having a smaller assortment of lenses that also cost more than Nikon but also are the same?
:) I did the math. The XT is 175% the price of the D40, yet they are equivalent.
And Nikon just pulled off the D700 which is the best DSLR to be made so far. nikon's lookin good, and thats a fact, not an opinion here for once
and i recon (lolz i sound like im in a book) you're judging this by what you've seen, because ive noticed you dont really look at the specifics of cameras too much. one day you want a Canon, next day "LOL THIS OLYMPUS IS MY DREAM CAMERA..OWAIT LOOKIT THIS ONE" then "OH THIS NIKON IS AWESOME OMFG HAY MY PHOTOGRAPHY TEACHER LET ME USE THE D2 IT WAS AWESOME I WANT IT SO BAD!"

"Did the math"? If I recall, my calculations showed the XT at a better price. ;D And personally, I think the XT has a feature edge. Don't forget how majority of sports photographers are Canon (L lenses are EVERYWHAR).
The D700 is a good camera, I'll give you that. But it comes down to glass, and (personally) that's where I think Canon has the edge. In my head, body's only 35% of the story.
And don't forget the 50D and 5D mk II, which also look very good (but yeah, Nikon's gaining ground. But there's much more to gain! ;D)
...but to each his own. Whatever floats your boat. :P
