Rain began to cover my sleek, white pelt. i didn't really mind, but Patches, a cat with huge brown patches covering most of his white pelt, and Fluffy, a gray, fluffy cat, sure did. They complained whined outside for our owner to open the door like crazy. I told them it was Moontime and they were sleeping, but they just hissed and spat at me. The rain was clearly making them foul-tempered. "if you really want to stay dry, just go in the garage," I said simplyafter a long while of their whining. "I don't want to! I want to be inside, in the warmth and dryness, and besides, the garage leaks, which is almost as bad as sleeping out here!" fluffy growled. "Well, if you don't want to go in there, you will end up sleeping out here!" I said with a slight laugh. Those two cats shot me a glare, so I kept quiet for another long while. I hesitated to say what I said. "I know of a wamr, completely dry place. It's big, and probably meets to your standards," I stopped and chuckled, "Follow me if you're interested." I jumped to my paws and began walking over to the fence. Soon I heard a sigh and the sound of the two cats following behind. I jumped ont othe fence and looked down at them. They were following, but they tried to hide their excitement about finally being warm and dry. I hopped down and picked up my pace to a sprint. We'd get there faster if we did this, and the water would be pulled off the others' coats so they could run faster. I ran over to the foot of a forest. I stopped to see if the others were following. Then I ran to left into the forest until there were many trees. I began scraping dirt out of the ground. The other cats came and sat beside me with a puzzled look on their faces. I looked up at them, then turned my gaze back to the dirt. "Well, do you want to help? I'm used to doing this myself, but the faster I clear this dirt, the faster we'll be warm and dry," I said, not taking my gaze off the ground in front of me. "what are you doing Snowflake?" Patches asked. i looked up at him and looked at him with piercing blue eyes. "Don't ask questions. Dig where I'm digging. Hurry, too. i may not mind getting wet, I hear thunder and there's some lightning in the sky accompanying it," I said. I continued digging, and they crouched down and began to help. Once the specks of lighting and growls of thunder turned into a roaring storm, which happened quickly, we found a bunch of leaves covering an already dug hole. It was big enough so that my whiskers, or anyone else's, wouldn't brush against the dirt sides. I crouched down and slithered in swiftly. When Fluffy and Patches did not follow, i came back out. "What are you waiting for?" I growled. "We're not rabbits, Snowflake!" Patches hissed back. "i'm not either! I'm a she-cat, just going into a tunnel. It's Moontime, we couldn't get into our homes right now, so we're bearing with the wild. Understand? Now hurry, the storm's getting worse!" They reluctantly jumped in and followed as I went farther into the tunnel until we reached a spot where it got bigger. There was a leaf in the ceiling, and I pushe at it so it would move away from a hole. I jumped out of the top of the tunnel and scraped the dirt away from the tunnel roof, and jumped back in to place the leaf over the ceiling again. The tunnel was dark, but it blocked out most of the sounds from the storm. "See that leaf in the ceiling?" I asked Patches and Fluffy as they curled up on the dirt ground and nodded, "When the storms over, the moonlight will shine through it and light upthe whole tunnel. if it doesn't end until tomorrow in Suntime, the sun will shine through the leaf. That reminds me, I better go cover up the other tunnel end so no rain finds itself in." Then i ran to the tunnel opening and pulled some leaves and dirt over it. When I came back, I saw Patches and Fluffy happily curled up, almost asleep. "Thank you, Snowflake," Fluffy said looking up at me. "Yeah, thanks," Patches added. i looked for sarcasm in their eyes, but htey were each completely sincere. My fur prickled with embaressment. "It was nothing," i said, licking each of them affectionately between their ears before cuddling up beside them and falling alseep. When I awoke, Patches and Fluffy were just stretching out. A tiny bit of sunlight, just enough to light up the tunnel a little, shone through the leaf in the roof. There was also the sound of rain. "It's still raining," I said, "We're going to have to travel back in the rain again." "What do you mean? I want to stay here! It's so nice here!" Fluffy said. I looked at Patches. This was the cat who had loved staying inside in her warm, cozy home with her owners. The cat who was scared of everything out of her safe backyard. Then again, she hadn't seen the rest of the wild, and wouldn't know how hard it would be. she was also very young, and might regret what she said later. "I like it here, too, but how will we get food? how will we live?" Patches said uncertainly. "But I want to stay!" fluffy said defensively. I sighed, then said, "alright, Fluffy, we'll stay, but only until the rain ends. Understand?" Fluffy jumped up. "Yep!" she said joyfully. Patches and I sighed when we heard the rain crashing harder onto the ground. t would be a while until it stopped, which meant they'd probably have to find food for the day if they were going to stay.
