Secretly Friends: Start of a Secret

  Chapter 1

Nellie pricked up her ears. She heard a dog close by, panting. She crouched down, her light brown pelt blending in with the dirt, besides her white paws and white streak down her chest. Soon the dog came near, and curiously peered around the tree where she was crouched to the ground. She pounced at the dog, screeching as it shook its head to loosten Nellie's grip.
"Go away!" she screeched as she gripped harder onto the ldog's gray fur that had darker specks.
"I can't! You're gripped to me! Help!" the dog yelped. Nellie let go, but didn't flatten her fur. Instead she hissed at the dog, which was not much larger than her. Then she finally let the fur on her back and tail lay flat as she met the dog's terrified brown eyes. A wave of sympathy flashed over Nellie.
"i'm sorry. I'm just so cautious, and I didn't realize you were so harmless," Nellie mewed.
"Me, harmless? No, I could've wounded you in a flash if I chose to," the dog stammered, trying to sound a lot more confident than he felt.
"Really? Let's test your skills in a challenge then! I'm keep my claws sheathed, and no biting. Up to it?" Nellie asked with a giggle.
"Sure!" the dog replied. Nellie pounced on the dog, and the she-cat easily had her pinned down. The dog pushed up and Nellie fell off her, but jumped to her feet and ran under her.
"Being smaller has its advantages," she said.
"I'll show you advantages, kitty!" the dog said, trying to sound fierce but with amusement in her eyes. She fell onto her side and as Nellie jumped onto her, she got up and pushed her down. She pushed his paw off and the dog pushed her to her back and held her grip hard enough to pin her down.
"Alright, you're obviously stronger than I thought," Nellie said as the dog released her.
"You still were really strong, and I was scared of you,"the dog admitted.
"Well, I'd better get going," Nellie said.
"Wait," the dog stopped her,"I'll be here tomorrow night to play. I'm Mist."
Nellie looked around before replying, "Alright, mist, but not otmorrow, the day after. The other cats are terrified of dogs, I'd be in trouble for having a canine friend."
Mist nodded and then Nellie went back to the other cats as Mist left.
