You get over it quickly. And at least if your parents do go away- that sounded weird, sorry- they will still be alive so will have both to go to. Me, not so much.

I didn't see my dad for six months after they split up. And even after that it wasn't so often because they didn't wanna see each other.
It's not easy, and it's not easy to get over either. So don't assume unless you've BEEN THROUGH IT.
