People honestly believe this kind of photo... sickening.
Any time you have to circle or outline a "ghost", it's fake.

A ghost, yet the guy in the tree looks like the combination of a wooly mammoth, some Ice Age dude, and Jamie Hyneman's moustache.

Your child was chasing a piece of dust which was illuminated by the camera flash which reflected the childs' pants color onto that dust while the camera was moving hence the motion blur.



PIKAAAAA!

Clearly the photographer is lying by saying the TV is off. You can almost clearly see the channel's logo in the bottom right corner... looks like "FX".



The most simple special effects technique - the string. Why is this right next to a window? You can't possibly see the string in there, of course!
(And we totally need a circle for us to notice the flying doll.)
By the way, the haunted doll was sold on eBay for $157.50. No joke.



Somehow, somewhere, someone took a picture of their child and figured "What's that ghostly hand on the right!?".
