Let me tell you, if you decide at my age, "HEY I'M GUNNA GO TO HIGH SCHOOL BYE GUIZ" it won't work. Middle school is really where you learn to define yourself and gather a group of friends that will stick with you through high school. It's really an awkward, yet important, thing you have to do. It helps you learn that the world is not hunky dory, and that you may not be accepted by every person who sees your face.

I'm through middle school, and I've now accepted that my life is fine, I like complaining, and that I'm weird and proud. Now, I don't have to worry about high school socially. Well, not as much anyway.

Just go. The worst that happens is....

I dunno. Nothing that's really THAT horrible can really happen. You sort of have to try for that to happen.

I didn't go to Middle School and I'm fine.
I live in such a place where there isn't Middle School, you go straight from elementary school in grade 6, into high school in grade 7 up into grade 11 [yes, only 11 grades].

No, I mean if there is a middle school and you don't go, it messes up everything.

Well, my brother and sister began going in highschool but they're fine.

My brother's actually known by a lot of people in his video class.

But you're right-- it's good to be known.

Well, no. They call you cuss words, and innapropriate body parts or such names, and more I don't want to mention

I think that you should go. In my opinion middle school isn't that bad.

Even if you don't have a good experience, its not like your life is going to suck when you get older.

And it is true that in middle school people sometimes are mean, but it is sometimes a good thing! Then people learn how to live through hard times. Also (it depends on where you live) middle school is only for three years so it is not that long.

So in MY opinion, I think you should go. If you don't like it, then blame me.

Well, its mainly your pick, but I'll give you what I have to say.

Not just the kids can be the mean and nasty ones. Yes, they can be very offending, and can get you in loads of trouble, and just plain make your two years of middle school/junior high horrible. But, the teachers also. There are mean teachers, who seem to just hate you from the first day (I know how that feels), thefre will be teachers who dont give a crap if you fail or pass, and they wont even teach you. (Also know how that feels) And there are some teachers who will teach you stuff thats way over your head, high school stuff, and still expect you to pass with flying colors, even if you didnt spend that long on that suject. And everyonce and a while theres a teacher who wants to teach you, wants you to pass, and cares about you, but they seem to get really off-topic alot. And not much teaching gets done with those types of teachers. (Also know how that feels.)
If you know how it feels to have any of those types of teachers, or any other type of not-so-good-teacher you will know what I'm getting at.
The mean type, and the type that dont care if you pass, are the ones that usually make you really just want to give up. I most definatly know that feeling. Science class for the win! I'll walk into class, telling myself "Okay, you really need to pass something in this class, even if you don't get taught anything. Even if you have to resort to teaching yourself" but usually, about halfway through class, I have know clue about what were studying or "learning", I just plain want to give up. Maybe its justme, with a short attention span, but I'm pretty sure the rest of my class feels that way.
So beware of evil teachers. They can be worse than the kids
But the students there can also be a pain in the rear. You could, for instance, be learning in class, trying to concentrate, but you can't. Why? Because, lets say, the whole back of the classroom is talking. If that happens, its probably because the teacher doesnt have any control over the class, which happens alot. You can lose complete concentration if you can here about 5 conversations going on at once. Beleive me, I know.
And there are the kids who may need extra help, and the whole class gets help back because of that. Huge plus with homeschooling. You can go at your own pace, fast, or slow.
Don't even get me started on the kids who call mean, and nasty, and really inappropriate names. Over 3/4's of them would get me banned here. Plus the rumors. Rumor's have to be one of the other downsides to middle school/junior highs. One kid can say one thing about you, usually it isnt true, and by the end of the week, the whole school knows, and most of the time becaus of rumors, you end up hated, until you find a solution to fixing the rumor.

But, some of the downsides to homeschooling is lack of friends, unless you go to alot a homeschool groups or something, or some sport, or something along those lines, you wont know many people or have many friends. And if you do go back to school, and you've beenhomeschooled your whole life, you reeeally won't know exactly what its like, even if alot of people told you about it. Since every school is different, byut most of them have the same concepts.
Now, thats all the downsides i know, but since I'm not homeschooled, but there prolly are some more downsides to it.
I might even be homeschooled, since my junior high years werre so poorly, my parents are actually considering it.

wow...that has to be my longest post...
But this is all my opinion, dont immediatly go "omg middle school sounds horrible i dont wanna go" just think about it.

That's a good idea.
The schools make a difference, seriously.

When I switched schools, I went to see all the schools in my area to see which one I liked best, and it helped me. ^^

some words of advice from a middle schooler who is a complete outcast.
don't do it
i hate it.
its like living in heck.
if i were given the chance, i'd choose home school over public school.
the girls in middle school are NASTY. ii've gone home crying before [and i've been called insensitive and black hearted many times.]
personally, i think when you get home schooled you actually understand things better, because for me, i hardly ever can focus on my work because of some insult i get. i never show that it gets to me, but still, it does.
anyway, if you have a choice, dont do it.
it corrupts innocence as well.
@ all the people who have only 2 years of it-i ENVY you.

Well. Middle school is HARD. I didn't have a great experience because I moved several times. For 12 years I lived in Texas. I was in 6th grade when I moved. We moved on winter break. I went to the rest of 6th grade in city1, Tennessee. Then I went to part of 7th, and then on winter break we moved to city2, Tennessee, where I was homeschooled for half the year. Then on winter break I went to public school. I hated that school with a passion, and we knew we were moving anyway, so for 8th grade, my mom drove us farther to go to the school we were going to go to when we moved, then on winter break we moved to city3, Tennessee, and I went to the same school. So there's middle school for ya.

I'm homeschooled now...because I hated middle school. I had a hard time. But I'm going back to public school next year. Because I only have 2 years of school left...and going to school is an experience that's needed, in my opinion. When you graduate, you always picture yourself with friends, in gowns, with hats, and at the end you all throw your hat in the air. If I'm homeschooled...I won't have that. I want that. So I'm going back. Plus...I only have 2 years left...and if I don't go, I'll regret it. And I don't get a 2nd chance. I made friends in 8th grade. But I let the fact that I was bullied over-power that, and make me want to be homeschooled. I shouldn't have. I shouldnt care what people say. Who are they, anyway? Nobody's perfect. I had great friends. And I left them because of some stupid bad experience. But I miss them, so I'm going back. You don't get two chances at being a kid. When you graduate, you're an adult. That's it. There's no going back. So I plan on making the best of it. Instead of hiding at home from people who have no right to judge me in the 1st place, I'm going to ignore them, and have a good time.

No one can make this decision for you. But you can read all of our experiences, and make a decision from them. I hope everything works out, and is great. (:

If you don't go to Middle School, you can always wait and go to High School. I've heard from several people that High School is much better than Middle School. The kids are more mature, and most of the stupid name-calling and bullying is over with. You have to remember that Middle School is a weird stage for kids. They're growing up, and changing. They're still kids, but they're out of elementary school, so they think they can push people around. Once they get into high school, most of it is over with, and everybody kind of sticks with their groups of friends, and leaves everyone else alone.
