Shanks, it's my favorite too. My only complaint is the DOF was so shallow it fuzzed out the last bit of the mantis. And one of the claws could be lit better. But those are nitpicks, at most.
Mostly light painting. The Christmas tree is something very amusing to shoot.
First off are my favorites!
Spoiler
That one won the school newspaper photo contest. Too bad you can't see the fireplace in the puny print size :(
whoooosh. One-second exposure, zooming out during the said exposure.
Same basic shot, but with the Speedlite bouncing a rear-curtain flash to bring the tree into view.
Moar light painting yay
Eek, Powerade logos :(
Needs moar Pac-Man.
o I wub yallz lolololol. THOSE HEARTS ARE FOR PSY THOUGH
I like the "layered" light painting in that one.
All done, whoo.

Next update was moved here
Today's my photo-dump day! Today I dump pictures into the thread that aren't really part of a batch or anything, so there'll be some standalone shots. Thus, don't expect anything totally awesome.
Oh, and I'm dumping some Christmas photos before they become more irrelevant, lolol.
Spoiler
This was at a friend's church's concert. Getting this shot was hard, since two poofy-haired ladies were sitting in front of me and confusing the camera's autofocus (the bokeh-mess that their hair became would confuse me too). It's also why the corners of the photo is somewhat dark. Program was overexposing, probably because they were wearing black so I had to dial in the shutter speed. This is the only keeper of the bunch. ISO 1600, hand-held at 200mm (320mm equiv.) at 1/50. Partial metering. It's a shame the lady singer is half-blinking.
Shot of the moon from a couple weeks ago. Manually guessing the metering, aperture and shutter speed was not fun. This one is slightly cropped.
That first one is really neat, that's so simple and cool. It keeps you engaged in the picture, with the composition and a deep look into it. All the rest are neat, I like the second one best though.
Shanks guise. I really like the first and second shots too, the ones afterwards are mostly fun shots. The first one took like 5 tries to get since the ornament was at an awkward height and my tripod was being retarded. :(
That ornament photo is the only real "christmasy" photo I've seen. Most others are just macros of lights (guilty) but that one really has a christmas feel to it. It's easy to just focus on an ornament and call it quits but that looks like it took a bit of thinking, and good positioning to get the room to reflect without your camera being in the shot.
Our living room doesn't have a fireplace or anything, just a bunch of computers and a giant TV so it isnt very christmasy at all - me and my bro tried a similar idea once and it didnt turn out very well at all, EVEN YOUR LIVING ROOM ADDS TO IT MAN
GOOD JOB HONEY <3

that old sig was big as fuck so i just removed it you're welcome
I was actually hunting around the tree for something to take photos of when I sat down and saw the arrangement. There weren't any lights blasting the camera too bad, and the lights were reflecting off of the ornament really well. The picture was an 8-second exposure though, ISO 100.
And you can see the camera in the shot, but I don't mind ;)
