I find it quite pretty. It's such a deep clear dark red. Like black cherry kool aid. I licked a wound once.....I am not sure if the sweetness was from the salt of my skin or the blood itself.
I suspect I'll need to cut a deeper wound to taste to know for sure.
The salty skin taste is especially amplified while sweaty, so being injured while playing some kind of sport may skew the level of saltiness.
Have you noticed the deepness of the red depends on the level of blood? Small sounds yield a lighter, cherry-like red while large volumes emit a hearty, scarlet shade. If you squeeze a punctured area of skin and watch the blood amount increase, you can watch the color's punch increase rapidly.
And I've always wondered if color depends on the deepness of the injury. Perhaps I will find out some day.

Incorrect. There are also high salt levels in sweat.....it'll make it even saltier.
Have you ever put gasoline in a wound? It hurts..and it makes the blood even sweeter. Before I mow the lawn, I usually give myself tons of tiny little cuts and then I purposely spill gasoline. I suck on the wounds at night when I crave candy.
I tried white blood...it doesnt taste as delicious as red blood. I wonder why.

Yes, I know... that's why I said the salty taste would be AMPLIFIED.
Gasoline is a nice idea, but I've always wanted to try stomach acid. pH of 1.5, baby.
It would also be cool to try blue, oxygen-less blood. Would the lack of oxygen change the taste, texture, or perhaps consistency?

Oh, my bad.
What i usually do just to add a bit of 'crunchiness' to it is to make little cuts, let them bleed a little on my finger but then I let it dry for about 30 minutes. Then I lick it; it has a little bit of a chewiness to it, it's not just liquid.
