Dubya tee eff Pinky. I'd go with Psy on this one. >:( For the money, the D60 has very little to offer over the D40. It's AF-S-only as well, but I dunno what Psy's talking about. Why would you use manual focus that often? Weirdo >:(
Ironically, the D40's built-in flash has a higher sync and is more powerful.
The bigger things that would make me go to Canon would be the amount of AF points, the limited lens selection and the fact that Nikon's RAW+JPEG mode defeats its own purpose (its JPEGs are in low-res). But I suppose it would rely more on what you shoot... another bonus for me is ISO 100, which I tend to use a lot.

* CD's (ooobviously) * Guitar (fender strat, probably black or blue) * Stuffs for my new room. I'll most likely only get the guitar, and I'll buy the rest of the stuff with any money I get from other family members.
I'M GOING TO TEXAS FOR CHRISTMASSSSSS

WTF WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?! SAME THING AS D40! SAVE YOURSELF $200 AND GET A LENS! IF THERES THAT "COLLEGE RULE" YOU SPOKE OF, THEY'D STILL REALIZE THERES NO DIFFERENCE AND IF ANYTHING WOULDNT ALLOW THE D60!!!!!!!!!!
BUUUUUULLLLL!!!!
the lenses are like $400 OH EM GEEE more megapixels, vr lens, and you have to get certain af-s lenses.
and if i can get the better camera, i'm gunna do it.
WE'VE BEEN OVER THIIIIIS!111111111111
1. the megapixel difference is barely noticeable except in LARGE prints 2. I ONCE DID A HANDHELD 3 SECOND EXPOSURE WITH MY LENS WITH VERY LITTLE BLUR, ITS PRETTY STABLE MAN AND YES I HAVE SHAKY HANDS :( 3. you have to get certain AF-S lenses with the D60 too I think, and that's not even a big deal. Trust me you'll find yourself using manual focus more than auto on an SLR... and I can't stand using autofocus anymore. o_O 4. $400+? o rly? That's one of the best Nikon lenses, btw. 5. DOUBLE O RLY?
:(
I'm reallllly leaning towards the D40 right now. It's not that expensive either..I might go for it. :D

XDD I was looking at a review on YouTube, and it looks REALLY simple and easy to use. I think it'd be good for me, because I'm still learning and whatever, I think it'd get me more into photography than with the point and shoot camera I have now. I've had it for two years and I've been wanting to upgrade for a while.
Plus I don't think the megapixels would make THAT much of a difference. it's not like I print many pictures anyway. Even then I do it for myself and I wouldn't care about how good it looks. And I tried it today at Best Buy and it was comfortable in my hands, I like how it's kinda small, because my hands aren't so big. They're tiny.

It's very easy to use. There's even a little flashing question mark, and if you hold down a button it suggests something... like if you're in low-lighting it'll say you should use flash. It has a good menu and the in-camera editing is fun to screw around with :P
YEAAAHHH FINALLY SOMEONE WITH COMMON SENSE ABOUT THE MEGAPIXELS >:(
There's barely even a noticeable difference. You'll notice it a bit in prints but that's it.
